It’s January and a New Beginning, 2010…….

Welcome to Trips ‘R Us, the digital online newspaper for the home education community. This is a brand new venture for FIELD TRIPS!!! We are fine-tuning it as we chug along. We firmly believe in parents' rights to provide their kids’ education. This is your newspaper. This venue is for all home education families and we’d like to hear from you and your events. Only Email Submissions accepted! Deadline is the 15th of each month. Check out our initial test issue in our archives, December, 2009. The year, 2009, was FULL of bumps for us. Computer issues THRIVED every step of the year, EduFairs 2009 was unbelievable, our family had the flu in October, and freezing temps through December, along with unavoidable construction issues at both FREE Exchange locations. We had a record # of books/resources to give away at EduFairs 2009 and our flatbed trailer broke an axle on the way to Springfield on day #1. We held our annual Reading Delicious Ice Cream Party in May to the sound of lawn mowers, and September’s annual Summer SnoCone, Popsicle, and Soda party inbetween the rain showers! We enjoyed the Theater, even though Pam & kids couldn’t travel anywhere!! Yep, 2009 was full of trials, but, it is how you survive through the trial that is most important. We chugged onward, slowly things fell into place, one step at a time. I made a solemn promise to FIELD TRIPS!!! at the beginning, God first, Family second, Trips third. I firmly believe in giving credit where credit is due, Jesus had his hand on FIELD TRIPS and held us
together.
You, the families here in southwest Missouri, answered our cry for help with your contributions, along with a generous donation of time/labor from Classic Trailer, and we have a FIXED flatbed trailer. We will be holding EduFairs for the next 3 years in Springfield, Monet, Branson, Seymour, Buffalo, and Bolivar. THANK YOU!

This month, January 2010, FIELD TRIPS!!! is collecting items for Haiti. Several families in the southwest Missouri region have adopted or are in the process of adopting kids from the country of Haiti. Kids Against Hunger is a local outreach which provides packaging sessions for kids to assemble meals for kids around the world. I am still looking for a FREE Exchange location. Prepays accepted for the Circus FIELD TRIP!!! and several plays, email announcements arriving soon through the email list.

Families For Home Education is hosting a Home Schooling Through High School Workshop, presented by Deana Haines, Executive Director for Families for Home Education. Deana will cover the following topics: "Getting it All Done", "10 Reasons to Home School Through High School", "Creating a High School Transcript" and have a Question and Answer session. This presentation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 pm.
Homeschooling 101 – How to get started, presented by Rachael Hannay, Region 6W Director. Rachael will cover the following topics: “How to Begin”, “Missouri Home School Law”, “Recordkeeping”, “Finding and Choosing Curriculum” and have a Question and Answer session.
