SHEM is an acronym for Southwest Home Education Ministries, our purpose is to minister to homeschooling families in Southwest Missouri by sponsoring various activities, to work in a cooperative manner with other home-schooling organizations which promote benefits for, and freedom to home educate; and to inform the public of current laws relating to home education.
Our current offerings include the New Homeschooler Training that meets every second Thursday of the month, 6:30 P.M. at the Library Center and the 2010 SHEM Homeschool Convention. The convention will be April 22-24 at the Springfield Expo Center and include speakers such as Dr. Susan Wise Bauer, Jay Wile, Shelley Noonan, Hal & Melanie Young and Dr. Christopher Perrin. Exhibitors from all over the country will be present to provide curriculum, co-op and educational support. New this year, SHEM will be offering a Leadership Conference that will INCLUDE entrance into the convention hall. Finally, SHEM will be awarding $800 in SHEM Bucks for early registrants for their shopping pleasure at the convention center.

The Buffalo Area Christian Homeschoolers Co-op will begin on February
1st and we will meet as planned every other Monday from 1:00 to 4:00
until May 24th. We are going to take sign ups by email and we will be
meeting Monday January 25th at 1:00 pm, for in person sign ups. We will
meet at the Buffalo Freewill Baptist Church 653 East Main Street.

your children would like to participate in or please come Monday, January
25th to sign up It will help everyone to be ready February 1st. Please
include your first and last name as well as the first and last name and
age of each of your children and the classes they would like to
participate in. The parents leading the classes will need an idea of how
many kids to prepare for so please try to sign up before February 1st.
If you are choosing a 30 minute class for your child please pick two for
each hour.
